The bridge, built for vehicles over the Meridiana Ave. in the eighties, is being transformed into a pedestrian bridge.
The reform and improvement of the Sarajevo bridge is part of the set of actions carried out on both sides of the bridge and solves the priority character for pedestrians, with the aim of becoming a meeting point between the two Trinities with a unique platform design.
The project enables better interaction between pedestrians and vehicles and gives the space porched areas with vegetation, modifying the image of the bridge to make it singular as one of the gateways to Barcelona and a further continuation of Collserola’s green connectors.
The materials used in the design are climbing plants, iron, concrete and light. The bridge incorporates solar energy capture, used for night lighting, and photocatalytic concrete that reduces pollution and cleans the air of CO2. In short, it is proposed that the bridge become a new landscaped civic space equipped with contemporary technology to improve the living conditions of the environment and minimize (or cancel) consumption, emissions and maintenance costs.
